5 Great Tips for Taking Kids to the Theater

Admittedly, I am a huge musical theater geek.  I absolutely adore it.  I’m that crazy person singing at the top of her lungs in my car while I’m stuck in traffic. My husband and I have nosebleed seats to the local theater where the Broadway touring shows come.  On occasion we will bring a child […]

Quick and Cheap Cheesy Pepperoni Rigatoni Bake

Most of my weeknight dinners need to happen really quickly.  By the end of the day, I’m basically too exhausted to do anything fancy and complicated.  This is my vamped up pasta dinner that I make instead of just pouring jarred spaghetti sauce over noodles and calling it dinner.  It’s easier and cheaper than homemade lasagna […]

Chocolate Cake with Berries & Whipped Cream

choc cake whip cream berries1

Please don’t be intimidated by homemade cake, this one is actually SO simple. This is my absolute FAVORITE chocolate cake recipe. It’s dense but so moist, and it has the most intense chocolate flavor without being too heavy. We had friends coming over to dinner, and they like to eat healthy food. Like organic almond milk and flax seed kind of healthy food. I happened to want cake for dessert, so I decided to “trick” my friends into eating my delicious cake. Whipped cream and fresh berries are delicious (it’s just not quite the same as buttercream frosting!)

10 Nutty Characters Found at Every Thanksgiving Table

Thankful blessings, the delicious aroma of roasted turkey wafting through the house, the whole family seated around the dining room table enjoying a homemade feast; these are the ways I look fondly upon Thanksgiving.  The Martha Stewart in me believes this is a reality that I can accomplish each holiday season.  After hosting and cooking […]

“Best Marathon Training Playlist” is definitely a relative concept.  Some people love techno or classical to carry them through their running.  Other people love pop and hip hop to keep them motivated when they’re exhausted.  Some people choose to listen to audio books.  I am a little different.  I need music to help me zone […]

Roasted Sweet Potatoes

When I think of sweet potatoes I think of Thanksgiving.  In my family, we eat sweet potatoes year round.  I love to serve sweet potatoes several times a month.  Packed full of nutrients, sweet potatoes are a healthy side dish that my whole family loves.  It doesn’t get much easier than roasted sweet potatoes.  It’s […]

The Easiest Roast Chicken

I have always been afraid of chicken with bones.  Not because I’m afraid of choking, but because I just find them intimidating.  Boneless skinless chicken breast is what I usually buy, but they have been so expensive in the store recently.  Last week, my grocery store had bone-in chicken breast on sale for $.99 a […]

Tide-What have you done?

Organic and natural cleaning products are my absolute favorite.  It sounds kind of silly, but when I can be gentle on the environment AND have a clean house, I’m a happy camper.  My one hold out on green cleaning supplies is my laundry detergent.  I have used original scent Tide laundry detergent for years.  I just […]
