Post Run Fruit and Veggie Smoothie

When I get back from a run I’m not usually starving.  I drink a glass of water before I go and I drink another one when I get home.  After that I love to make myself a smoothie.  Am I going to eat kale and carrots first thing in the morning by themselves?  Uh, nope.  So I mix them into smoothies and it ends up tasting pretty darn good.

Smoothie ingredients get super expensive, but this one isn’t bad.  Organic carrots and organic kale are priced at about $1 a pound and slightly browning bananas at $.50 a pound.  I wash and freeze the kale, then peel and freeze the bananas.  Carrots keep well in the fridge.  I don’t bother to peel them, just scrub them well and chop off both ends.  I buy grapes when they’re on sale, then remove them from the stems, wash and freeze them.

*I did invest in a nice blender.  I LOVE my Vitamix blender.
