Quick and Easy Homemade Biscuits

IMG_2395Bread is one of my favorite things.  Having fresh bread with a meal always makes me happy.  Most of my meals need to be put together in less than 30 minutes because with 7 people in our family, our schedule is hectic.  Could I just buy biscuits in a can and call it good?  Sure.  They’re really not expensive and they’re convenient.  But they’re just not that good.  They taste all fake and chemically.

Making biscuits is super simple.  The butter comes straight out of the fridge (the colder the better) and I almost always have the rest of the ingredients.

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. To a stand mixer, add the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder and mix to combine.
  2. Add the cubed butter and mix until the butter is evenly distributed.
  3. With the mixer on, pour the milk into the flour mixture just until the dough starts to form a ball and pull away from the side. Do not overmix.
  4. Place the dough on a floured surface, and dust with more flour. Flatten the dough to about 1 1/2 inch high (or use a rolling pan.) Cut into squares or use a biscuit cutter to shape biscuits.
  5. Place the biscuits on a pan and bake for about 10 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown.
