Worms and Dirt

worms and dirt-smaller  I’ve been known to do this instead of a birthday cake, for a couple of my strange kids who don’t like birthday cake. It’s actually super cute and comes together in under 15 minutes from start to finish.  It is not organic and free of preservatives and artificial colors.  But it could be if you wanted to spend the money on those options.  I’m feeling pretty poor right now, so my kids got the store brand version of this dessert.  The only name brand item I bought was the chocolate pudding and that was because there wasn’t a store brand option!  Here’s the breakdown of cost:

Gummy worms: $1

Whipped cream: $2

Fake Oreos: $2

Milk: $1.75

Pudding: $1.50

Total: $8.25

It would have been cheaper to buy a container of ice cream, but I wanted to do something different.  This recipe fed 8 people, and half of the cookies and whipped cream were left over (for me to eat by myself) I mean use for something else.

Instructions
  1. Add milk to a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle in the chocolate pudding mix and whisk until smooth. Set in the fridge for 5 minutes until it has set.
  2. While the pudding is setting, find a serving dish and set to the side.
  3. In a large zip top bag, place the chocolate sandwich cookies. Crush with a rolling pin until the cookies are crumbs.
  4. Start assembling the dessert. Add 1/4 of the pudding to the serving dish. Cover pudding with whipped cream, and sprinkle on a layer of cookie crumbs. Repeat until all pudding and cookies are gone (you should end with pudding-then add a final layer of crumbs.)
  5. Poke gummy worms into the top of the dessert. Serve immediately.
